From what I understand, the following happened: During practice on April 6 for a Fiat Monomarca race, Juan Iglesias' car caught fire. He suffered major burns and smoke inhalation and was declared brain dead on April 12. An investigation found major flaws in the rescue system. Marshals were poorly trained, no ambulance was on scene, and requests for the track to upgrade their facilities were ignored. There's more to it, but that's the gist. Those responsible have been fined and punished with suspensions, some for life.
