Just looked at the decision document on the WEC notice board and the stewards agree with me that it was a racing incident. The document also confirms that van eerd wasn't aware that Laurent was alongside himdue to them going either side of the Ferrari. The stewards also question wether the two cars really did touch, asserting that there is no evidence of contact and that the curb and wet grass could have been enough to sufficiently unsettle Laurents car.

What an unfortunate situation. Laurent has a run on van eerd and they go either side of the ferrari. I am not sure if van eerd ever saw that Laurent was even there. Anyway van eerd mpved onto the racing line leaving Laurent no room at all and squeezing him onto the grass and onto the curb. Go oving over the curb and the grass unsettles Laurents car at a corner where the cars would be very close to the limit anyway. The tow cars touch very slightly but in the situation I just described with Laurents car being really unsettled that was enough to sent Laurents car out of control. But really loucky accident in a way because that could have easily taken out two more cars, maybe three.
