Both drivers were o.k. after the accident thankfully but a senior track worker Roy H. Weaver III died when he got struck by Ray Paprota leaving the pits in turn one and two. Paprota suffered a faulty battery from the start and was about ready to go racing when the accident between Clevenger and Billings happend. Track workers were cleaning up the track and senior track worker Roy H. Weaver III did not expecting a car leaving the pits on high speed as all the other cars were over in turns 3 and 4. The impact was so severe, it took medical crews nearly 90 minutes to recover the remains. :*(
