Murray Walker. Thank you for everything
PaddockHillBend 5 yearsJust seen Murray has passed away at the grand of age of 97. He was simply the voice of motorsport for a generation of motorsport fans. I am not ashamed to say i have cried a few tears tonight ( a mix of sadness and happiness )
Murray, thank you for being the voice that guided me through many of the motorsport memories i cherish. you entertained explained and also provided some priceless comic moments with your schoolboy like enthusiasm.
I hope you are are able to catch up with some old friends and tell Mr J Hunt we still miss his company too in our front rooms.

Nicely put. The man was (and still is) the definitive voice of F1 to the English speaking world. On top of that, he was a thoroughly nice guy to boot and he seems to have been loved by everyone who met him. Him and Hunt were my Sunday afternoons for the best part of a decade, Murray for even longer. What a life and what a legend.

Very very sad news. I met him at Goodwood a few years ago in what was one of his last visits to the Festival of Speed. I got moaned at by the stewards for leaning a bit too far over the hay bales to get his attention as he was being driven past on the golf cart about to join the course. Although it was quite far over in hindsight as I don't think me feet were on the ground! He heard me ask for an autograph though and he made them stop and pass him my programme so he could sign it. He signed mine and one other persons before being driven off again. That year he only signed a couple as he was being driven around out of the public reach, think he'd not long been out of hospital. I felt very lucky, still do even to this day, that he made them stop just to please a few of us fans and allow us to spend no more than 20 seconds in the presence of a true gentleman and legend, and I've got to stop... because I've got a lump in my throat. Thank you Murray Walker!

Watched many F1 iconic moments with Murray, his commenting style could make a snail race sound exciting.
Really missed him when he retired, in fact I stopped watching F1 for about a decade, only recently got back into it.
