The card sets are " Members Motorsport Moments " and then along the same lines "Another Motorsport Moment" which gives you the chance to have two cards with your name in sets that are in the card gallery , plus it is a chance to have two new card sets to look forward to in 2024!
Your moment (memory) can be anything motorsport related any category from the big name series right through to club and local motorsport
Any series F1 NASCAR Indycar Supercars BTCC GT Superbikes Moto Gp anything Cars Bikes Trucks Karts so long as its motorsport and it shines a little light on your motorsport memories....It might be Schumacher running Hill off the road in 1994 or it might be you stood with your dad at a race circuit or it could just be your favourite driver or race circuit corner...Thats the beauty you get to choose
What might say "RogerWilco" or "John1504" remember as a Motorsport Moment that resonates with them? Would"GilesVilleneuve27" pick a Villeneuve moment
Paddock Hill Bend has designed two card designs and all you have to do is think of two motorsport moments you would like to see in card form and then you can either search the internet or scour your own archive to send him the photos you would like to use on your cards and what words you would like to go in the caption box
If you just want to tell Paddock Hill Bend the subjects and let him find the pictures and write the words then that is possible to.
Paddock Hill Bend will provide an email address that you can communicate with him and he will work with you via email to shape your two cards into reality.
You will get to see your own cards via email (before they go live on the site) in order that you are happy with them (but only your own!)
Here in the forum you can ask questions and comment as the sets develop and Paddock Hill Bend will provide updates on how the set preparation is going and with Darcy at the wheel he can update with news of go live dates and activities related to the sets
At this point in time the sets are only provisional in the sense that enough members need to respond in order to hopefully form two viable sets. Once we have an idea of the response will Darcy allocate set numbers and any future activities in relation to the sets
Submissions for the set will be accepted up to January 31 2024 and then once all final work is complete the launch dates etc will be advised
Photo suggestions and links need to be in JPG Format and to fit the card design the photo has to be cropped to fit a 402 by 336 size
So send an email to [email protected] and include your member name in the title and PHB will work with you to see if we can put two cards together in your name that you can look forward to collecting down the line.
PaddockHillBend will send you an email with attached card designs so you can clearly see what the cards look like and the caption box space that will need some words to describe your Motorsport Moment. Then hopefully through exchanges of email your cards can be put together as you would like
At this point rarity values of the cards are not relevant! Once we know how many cards and what they look like then we will allocate the rarity values
Hopefully 100 plus members will want to have cards put together and a very diverse and fun set will come together
If say 8 members pick the same absolute moments then i will discuss that via the email with individuals giving people the choice to make any changes etc
In short it will take a while to put together but two more Card sets containing all sorts of motorsport moments should appear in 2024
Please bear in mind i have a job and a mortgage, a wife and a 14 year old son so please do not worry if i do not respond to emails the same day! I will get round to you all and hopefully the forum here will provide a running update on progress and the email messages with individuals will help hammer out the fine details for your own cards.

What a great idea! I'm in! I really like this concept. I have a lot of ideas concerning cards set themes, but I don't have any creativity... To be honest, I thought about this theme many years ago and I already have some ideas, much more than just two. So it will be very difficult for me to make a choice.

Indeed, that does sound like a great idea. It might give a little insight into the various members as well. Will PaddockHillBend pick one or two moments from, erm, Paddock Hill Bend? Similar to Fredo, it will take me a while to narrow down my ideas but I'm definitely in on the idea!

This has the potential to be really cool. On the whole, I find there is little personal interaction on the site and a set like this could give a small understanding of each person's likes and why they got involved in motor racing and the site. It would also give each contributor a true feeling of being part of the site. As Fredo and John have said, the difficulty will be narrowing the selection down, but that will just add to the enjoyment. Hopefully the community will feel this is worthwhile and get involved.

Just a quick line to say that Dantheracer99 did indeed just suggest two moments he would like to be featured and i went off and found some appropriate pictures and wrote some captions that Dan then adapted to be exactly as he wanted and hey presto his two cards were done!
So to anybody thinking about whether or not to be part of the set it can be a very straightforward exercise even if you only want to suggest the topic(s) for your cards

I thought it would be a good time to update you all on the progress of the potential "Motorsport Moments" card sets. First i would like to thank all of you that have contacted me and offered up some of those moments and memories that mean something to you
Around 20 different members have been in touch and i have worked with them to put those moments into card form and so far nobody has thought of something that somebody else asked for.
So in effect 20 odd members offering two moments which gives them two cards each means that 40 or so cards are taking shape.
I have had a think about it all and decided that we should aim for one set rather than spread across two separate sets. That will mean we have one decent sized set when the launch of the set going live on Darcy happens
So to be clear everybody would still have two cards in the set sitting side by side,. However i would like to see a few more members have the chance to contribute and be featured in the finished set.
When i look at the average card in the galleries and see how many collectors have them i can say that around 35 to 50 of what i might call the hard core/regular bingo board users have not yet been in touch..
So i would like to extend the deadline for submissions to be involved in the set to the end of Feb 2024 and i hope that from the current total of around 40 cards that with the right winds behind us that we could venture up to 80 to 100 cards(or more!)
All i really need is two moments and why they mean something to you and i can find pictures and words to put the cards together.
I am sure those that have already been in touch can comment in forum land as to how painless the exercise is.....
So in short we will see how many cards we have on March 1 2024 and i will decide( in conjunction with Darcy) as to the next stages in relation to set number and all the details that go into bringing a set to life.
I know i could message lots of members direct and ask if they want to take part but i am not pushy or expecting people all to want to offer up something

To be honest, for me the hardest part was thinking of my two truly most memorable moments. I was really struggling despite my love of all things "cars in circles"... However, once i did give Rob the cards, it's exactly as people have said. A very simple process with almost no work required and two fantastic looking cards generated.

I thought i should give you all an update on how this potential set is going...
Enough folk have responded to mean this can be a viable set so i have decided the best way i can proceed is the following
So submissions are closed for the time being and i will be spending my spare time(some of it!) in the month of June 2024 putting the set together behind the scenes with a view to handing the finished set over to Darcy for him to be schedule a "go live" date on the site in the second half of 2024
If you have not contacted me previously and wish you had or just never got round to it then feel free to send me a message and if i can i will see if we can do you a couple of cards in time for the set launch
As some of you may have guessed i have in 2024 been working on other card sets that you may well see on the site before this Motorsport Moments set hits the bright lights so i find myself rather busy and in all truth when i am doing the sets it is much easier to focus on one set and do it well rather than confuse myself doing multiple sets at the same time.

Here we go then....Ladies and Gents, Boys and Girls i can reveal that your Motorsport Moments preparation work is done!
I am now handing the completed set over to Darcy so he can work his magic to bring the set to you here on the site.
For your information i can tell you that at launch it will be a 42 card set. My thanks to all the people who coughed up a couple of memories that could be featured in the set.
For those of you who did not get in touch i can say that if when you see the set on the site and you would like to have a card or two done in your name then that can still be done in a leisurely manner. Much like i update cards for say the 2024 Indycar season set as we go through the year then you can get in touch with me via the email( [email protected]) and i can see what we can do and then once they are complete i can send them across to Darcy who will add them to the set.
Now as to how i chose the rarity values for the cards i set myself some rules for fairness and balance
First i decided that i would not place any"common" value on any card and also that every member would have at least one card be of "megarare" value.
These moments and memories are special to all the individuals concerned so i felt it only right that the rarity value should reflect that.
I also felt that whilst i did not want these cards to be "hard" to find that they should be a degree challenging and therefore rewarding when you track one down.
Now with a 42 card set i decided that 2"Xtreme rare" cards were required and that the two members that got the X rating cards that then their other card would be of "Uncommon " value
So if you got an "X" value on your card you wont have a "Megarare" on your other card it will be of the "uncommon" rarity
I needed 6 cards in the set to be of "Uncommon" rarity and the rest made up of the 2 "X" cards and then Megarares and Rares
To be fair to everybody i held a lottery type draw to decide what card number got what rarity value assigned to it given the basic rule that every member would have one card be of Megarare or Xtreme rare rarity( it is all go in my house you know!)
So when the set goes live and you see what rarity value is on your cards be assured that i set about it with fairness in mind and may the luck of the draw decide.
Anyway i hope you all enjoy the set when you get to see it and maybe over time it will grow into something bigger.
Now this one is done i will think about doing some work on another set for this site.....
