Thumb hunts broken
Carbonox 2 years 2 yearsOK, I've gotten outright shafted out of my last 2 rewards, so I gotta address this in public now.
First one was last night, I opened the image in a separate tab like I always do to keep it around for reference, and while still on the reward page, I accidentally clicked it open a second time, which led to some error page that somehow invalidated the hunt instantly??? Found the video pretty quickly too, which makes it even worse.
But what happened just a few minutes ago was even more bullshit. Got a clue, used the search function to locate it like I always do, was well within the time limit (5 mins, I took about 2), and it didn't count at all. Went back to rewards page and it was gone.
EDIT: The error page from the first of the hunts was still on my latest closed tabs list, it said:
"Cannot load image: Matching video not found.
This clue has been disabled, search again!"
(despite the matching video absolutely existing as I still found it a moment later)
EDIT2: Since then I tried opting out and back in, but the first clue I got since then didn't return any image, nor did one appear on the rewards page afterwards, so it only feels more broken now. Is anyone else actually still getting and completing them as normal...?

I have a more positive update, I actually completed a hunt for a change by refraining from opening the image in a new tab. Last night I also got one to stay active long enough for the "out of time" notification to show up by doing the same thing (I really hate 3 minute timers with a passion, but that's a separate issue entirely).
Does this mean though that it's no longer allowed to open them in a new tab? Feels counterproductive since it keeps the clue around in full size for reference, and I'd imagine mostly everyone does it like that, but I can't see any other reason why clues would keep being disabled instantly. It's like the system acts I hit "Give Up" anytime I click it open in full size.
Most recently I experimented with one clue that was too blurry to ever be solved, and sure enough, it goes away the moment I opened it.

It's been working fine for me when I open the image separately, so I'm guessing it might be a browser or setting you're using.
It might be worth trying to copy the link of said image and open it in a different browser or on a different device so it's not "connected" to your account, perhaps?
As for the second edit you made to the original, that does just happen sometimes; at least with missing images it's easy enough to report the link to fix, but not so much when there's nothing :o

I've completed 5 since then, all by relying on the smaller image and the power of the squint, but any regular form of opening it in full size still cancels it out. I might try with a private tab next time when a decent test subject pops up (one that's unlikely to be a success anyway).
I've not really fiddled with settings to any noticeable degree during this time, so I still have this lingering thought that the original error "infected" my account somehow.

yes just happened to me 7:46 am uk. this is the first time, but i did get another thumb hunt a few minutes later and it was fine

I'm not even getting any thumb hunt quests. I've tried disabling and re-enabling the option in preferences but I don't seem to be getting any quests. Or perhaps I am not looking in the right place? Where can I see if I have an active thumb hunt quest?

Can thumb hunts be made a little friendlier, please?
In between the low clue drop rates, tight time limits and the website being intermittently unavailable, getting through ten quests today is going to take me literally 12 hours at my current rate, which also impacts future days. Not trying to be critical, I just don't think it should be quite *this* difficult...

i think thumb hunt clues are not working today. watched over 200 vids. only 1 clue. Also the thumb hunt count has been reset to zero

I'm glad you mentioned the count reset, I thought it was just me and I wasn't sure if I should say something, haha
I think the thumb hunts are intermittent, I got clues normally for half an hour and then nothing for 90 minutes and counting, good thing I've got other things to be getting on with until they come back ;)
