Supercars 2018 Download Help
sketch7000 6 years
Hello everyone!
I've got an issue downloading large video files from the archive server of the 2018 Supercars season, whereby the downloads repeatedly fail after 1.2GB of the 8-10GB full day files. I've tried various browsers and download managers etc but nothing helps. I can download large files of 10GB plus from the 2019 Supercars season no problem at all though.

I'm absolutely desperate to catch up on the end of the 2018 season and was hoping someone out there could help me out by downloading the files for me onto a USB memory stick and posting it to me (I'm in the UK so a fellow UK helper would be ideal).

Anyone out there in the Christmas spirit who can help me please? I'll happily pay beer tokens for the help!
Thanks!
Nigel

What equipment are you using ie Laptop/Android?
My method Android, right-click on the download button to copy that link, use Advanced Downloader Manager (ADM) app and insert the link and download it in that.
At least if you get an incomplete download you can trace where it stops it jumps (I use MediaPlayerLite) and (if you wish) you can download it again to confirm if it is an identical fault where it drops out or stops.
Remember Chrome Android can't download over 4 GB.
I only have my own phone data (no land line)
and using Wi-Fi or USB tethering either Chrome, Edge or IE if it drops out and you've got nothing but spent data. Thats why I use ADM and if you can get a reliable Free Wi-Fi spot even better.

I personally use Internet Download Manager (Paid software unfortunately, but with a free trial), and it seems to pick up fine from where downloads fail, if at all. I find Google Chrome and other browsers are sometimes temperamental with downloads from this site. Be sure that when you are downloading the files, that you are not saving to an external drive which may be powering off after a certain period, and thus causing the download to fail.

Thats why the best combination for me is Android phone, a strong free Wi-Fi spot, I've been lucky to find a shopping centre that'll do a 8GB in 20 min or less thru ADM app.

I did try using Internet Download Manager (trial) but I still couldn't restart downloads from the archive server with it? I have been downloading directly to my PC hard drives, but recently got an external drive and have been using that instead. I'm having another go right now to the internal drive just to double check its not the external drive powering off (doesn't seem to be).

My attempt this morning has failed again - 1.2GB and then it just fails. Download speed was consistently about 0.75MB/s.

Its so strange and also frustrating.

I'm using my home PC with fibre broadband connection. Its totally reliable for files on the main server (ie the 2019 Supercars season) - I downloaded every full day file for the whole season consecutively over the course of a couple of days with no problems at all. Download speeds of around 30MB/s.

Its files on the archive server which are the problem. The download speed is around 1 MB/s or less and they tick along until 1.2GB and then fail. As they are on the archive server, there is no restart functionality for the download?

Suggest use my method otherwise you're just chucking Tokens down the drain

think its probably a Wifi issue, on 5g I have no problems....
3g its a struggle to download files over 1.2-1.8 gigs

Supercars 2018 is now live on Archive Server #3 (besides three videos that are re-transferring).

Noticed a big spike in Token requirements for videos.
Supercars full days have jumped 50% mostly over 100 tokens
Biggest one: Bathurst 12 hour 2019 - 185 tokens.
Guess it got harder it to get the videos and the tokens for them

The three archive servers have always had a different token requirement - as detailed specifically on the info pages. Clearly, our newest server is of higher quality (to solve issues like the ones in this thread), and thus our out of pocket costs have significantly increased.

No probs with that.
But I'm on the site 24-7, I play bingo once a day but the last few days and all get is XP points and took 3 days to get 1 Token.
Forgive my lack of knowledge but bingo I've won 6000 of XP at the moment, pity I couldn't trade that in for tokens.
